One thing has always puzzled me, and Steve saying that if we don't ask questions we'll be reborn stupid in the next life has brought it up again. If we are reborn stupid, we, who we are now, won't know about it, so why should we worry about the next life?

What is meant with past, present and future life in the Suttas? Does it relate to the rising and passing of identities within this body/mind on to what was before birth and what will be after death?
