    I understand the technique how to separate the actions of tyrants and have compassion for them, but it is difficult to extend this to their children who are often worse than their parents. Does the same technique apply to them, too? This is very difficult.

    Concerning Jim and Tom and the guided Compassion/Lovingkindness meditation, the self-hatred Jim must be feeling, must be vast. Could you please share, what processes and what techniques and tools Jim would need in order to one day find peace of mind? I would think, that there would always be some level of self-aversion when Jim brings up this memory.
